Alise had to say...

I'm a wife and mom to four awesome kids, two cats and a dog.  We all love to read here (well, the animals always climb in my lap when I'm reading, so I assume they do too), so finding this site was a major treat for me.  Several of my hard cover books are missing their dust jackets, so if that's important to you, PM me to find out if it has the dust jacket!

+++++++++++++++

Swap Info:

  • Candles/Incense:  I mostly like my house to smell like I bake.  So vanilla, hazelnut, cinnamon, etc. are all good.  I also like fruit scents (apple & berry are my favorites).  Not a fan of "fresh" or floral scents.  I could use a new tart warmer.
  • Bath stuff:  Same kind of scents.  Not a fan of florals.
  • Candy/Food/Alcohol: Chocolate is always a hit around here (particularly dark chocolate with mint).  Reisen chocolates or Junior Mints are some of my favorites.  I also like those peach rings with the sugar coating on them.  Yum!  I love salty snacks as well, particularly different flavored popcorn.  We're not big drinkers around here, but I like to add a little coffee liqueur to a cup of coffee every once in a while in the cooler months, and we like flavored rums with our iced tea, especially in the warmer months.
  • Jewelry:  I love jewelry of any kind.  The bigger and gaudier, the better.  No allergies or sensitivities, so even cheap jewelry is good by me.  I wear more earrings and necklaces than bracelets.  I also love watches.  I adore handmade stuff -- never feel like you're cheaping out on me for sending me something you've created!
  • Music: I have ecclectic tastes.  I prefer folks/acoustic type music, but I also like electronica.  I don't really care for rap and country, but even those in small doses are okay.  I primarily listen to Christian worship by artists like David Crowder or Chris Tomlin, but I'll listen to just about anything.  I love to hear new/independant music as well.  I would LOVE a copy of They Might Be Giants Here Come the 123's.
  • Books: Wishlist books are always appreciated.  I don't care about editions -- a lot of my wishlist is duplicates of the same book.  I mostly enjoy courtroom dramas, memoirs, horror/thrillers & literary fiction (McEwan, Irving, Russo, etc.).  The only styles I don't really care for are romance or chick-lit.
  • DVDs: We love movies here.  Pretty much all styles.  The only ones that don't get watched very often are straight up horror (though thrillers are fine) or any really raunchy comedies (I hate American Pie and the like).  I have an account at SwapaDVD -- same username there (bigmama) -- so you can see some of my WL movies.
  • Coffees/teas: I love coffee and tea and am not very picky about flavors.  In teas, I don't really like chai or spiced flavors, but pretty much everything else is good.
  • Crafts: I crochet and knit.  I could use sock yarn or chunky yarn.  I could also use some larger sets of double pointed needles.  I'd say that I'm of intermediate skill level in crochet and beginner in knitting.  I love to work with 100% cotton yarn to make dishcloths and hats.  I'm good for crochet patterns, but could use some kitting books, especially for socks or sweaters (plus sizes).   I also do some beading, so any interesting beads or supplies would also be appreciated.  I also have 4 kids who like to do art/craft projects, so stickers, markers, glue dots, glitter, stuff like that is always welcome.  As far as organizing, I'm actually in pretty good shape.  Also, embroidery floss -- pretty much any color.
  • Makeup: I don't wear a lot of makeup, but I DO wear lipstick.  Dark browns and reds are my favorite.  I also love to paint my nails and really any color is good for that.  I prefer browns & dark reds, but honestly, it's all good.
  • Gift cards: Barnes & Noble, Subway, Pizza Hut, iTunes, WiiPoints (If you want to be WiiFriends, let me know your consol number!)
  • Miscellaneous:  Bookmarks, glasses cases (I always lose them!), gum (Trident Tropical Twist is my favorite), travel coffee mugs, reusable grocery bags, anything that's local to you, handmade items, etc.

Kid Swaps

  • Deborah Anne (10) -- This child loves to read.  Fantasy is great, but really, she'll read anything.  Favorite color is purple.  She loves bookmarks.  She likes sunglasses, but has a bigger head, so needs adult sizes. T-shirt/shorts 10/12 (larger = better). Any kind of smell pretty is good (especially bubble bath or body splash). She's donating her hair to Locks of Love soon, so she'll probably need some barretts for her new, shorter hairstyle. She loves to play on the Wii, so WiiPoints would be good for unlocking WiiWare games.  Deborah also likes working with plastic canvas and can never have too much of that (mom has lots of yarn, so no need for that!).
  • James McCoy (7) -- James has Asperger's Syndrom, so he tends to fixate on things a bit.  Right now, he's really into "interesting" crayons."  If you got him a 64 pack of new crayons with the new colors for Crayola's 50th anniversary, he would be truly ecstatic (seriously -- this would thrill him!).  He also loves interesting coins/money from other countries.  He also loves matchbox cars or John Deere anything.  His favorite color is green.  T-shirt/shorts size 7.  He reads mostly reference books -- space or geography are best.
  • Faith Jubilee (6) -- This is our princess.  She loves all things pink.  She's learning to read, and loves Beatrix Potter books.  She loves stuffed animals and despite having lots, is always open to more.  She loves princess things, doesn't have to be Disney Princess.  She likes doing small crafts.  She's been going through her summer homework enthusiastically and I'm sure she'd enjoy more "homework" books at the 1st/2nd grade level. T-shirt/shorts sz 5-6.
  • Christopher "Bubba" Judah (5) -- This guy seems to have inherited mom's affection for cows and cow-like objects.  He also loves matchbox cars and plays with them with his brother.  He starts Kindergarten this year, so any "getting ready for school" things would be great. T-shirt/shorts size 5.
  • NONO's -- Please no Bratz items for my dd's and no guns for my sons.  We don't place many restrictions on them, but those are on the list.  Thanks!
